A little update.

My my, the last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind around here. The birthday parties were so much fun, the weather has been perfect, our house has been painted, the yard is blooming and I'm back into making and selling pretty little bits and baubles as well! I've been meaning to blog about all of the exciting things happening around here, but I can never seem to find the time. Things are settling down a bit now, so I'm hoping to get around to doing that soon. For now, I'll leave this space with a few iPhone photos from our week of birthday celebrations. Oh, how time flies...
I also want to take a moment to thank those of you who pledged our Relay for Life team this year. In total our two teams raised over $40,500.00!

My baby boy turns 3 today!

Just like that! How quickly these 3 years have passed. He's grown so much, he can do so many things, sing so many songs... He loves to play 'hide & seek'. His favorite color is still pink. He picks Curious George books to read each day and asks for an apple before bed every night. When he grows up he wants to be a monster.
But, wasn't it just yesterday that I held his tiny 7lb 7 oz body snuggled up close to me as he sucked his thumb and looked up at me with wide eyed wonder? No? I suppose yesterday his tiny 2 year old body was sitting in my lap, telling me about all the fun he had at preschool that day, and whispering about all the birthday plans he has for the weekend, with equal wide eyed wonder. We are so lucky to know this sweet boy. We tell him we love him at least 100 times a day. I think he knows it's true.

Oh, how he is loved.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Linus!
Off to the park we go!

Happy Birthday, Husband!

Happy Birthday to my love.
Wishing you a year full of happiness, bike rides, cuddles, cold beer, picnics in the park, travel, Linus kisses, pancakes, new music, vitamin D, and all things good!
I love you, you know.

Mothers Day

Linus is almost three now and he's been testing Evan and I more and more these days. He's a stubborn little guy and he's mastered the temper tantrum... His face is always sticky, our home is rarely clean and my purse is filled with rocks (he's obsessed with finding rocks). Still, everyday I find myself wondering how I got so lucky. I'm Linus' mommy! There is nothing I would rather be. I love him beyond measure. No amount of purple juice on my couch will ever change that. He showers me with kisses each morning, paints pretty pictures, sings the sweetest songs and always asks to swiffer the floors. He lives for bubbles and baths and granny smith apples. He has the most beautiful blue eyes and berry lips. Oh, and check out the beautiful butterfly hair clip he made for me.

I am the luckiest.

Pura Botanicals Giveaway!

May is shaping up to be a pretty great month- as it usually is around these parts. Budding flowers, open windows, after dinner sunset runs, many new jewelry creations and birthday party fun. Spring has sprung and we've fully made our way out of hibernation, out doors and into the liveliness of the season. Although this time of the year brings me so much joy and excitement, I find the routine change can also be little overwhelming. I have a relatively low stress threshold and I'm constantly looking for ways to minimize anxiety and to keep myself focused on happy. Whether it be yoga, aromatherapy, bubble baths, hiking, or simply playing with the little ones in your life, it's important to know how to manage stress so it doesn't  take control of your life. I relish in the rare, quiet, slow moving moments that are freckled throughout each day. These moments refresh and recharge my body and brain.

One simple thing that has been helping to sooth my mind and body has been aromatherapy and taking a bit of time each day to pamper myself with Pura- a new line of all natural botanical tinctures made with love by my beautiful friend, Lane. These gentle, soothing, heaven scented concoctions are truly wonderful. I'm completely addicted to a number of her products already and my skin, mind, and home are seriously thanking me for it. I use Sweet Face every day, I carry Headache Be Gone with me everywhere, and my home smells like lavender and mint all the time. It's fantastic.
Pura is a freshly hatched line and as a way to get the word out about it, Lane is generously offering up $100 worth of Pura Botanical tinctures to one very lucky Sappy Apple reader!

•Tell us a bit about yourself.

My two sidekicks, Morgan and Cove are the loves of my life, besides my best friend and husband, Brydon. We moved from our chic downtown condo and bought a little old bungalow in old-school suburbia 2-years ago, and are renovating it from top to bottom, amongst the insanity of raising our two little sprouts and both running our own businesses.

I seek to inspire others by teaching yoga, creating botanical tinctures that are good for you and being grateful for each day I have with my family. Right now, I'm a sucker for anything pastel, vintage or made by hand. I adore spending time outside with Morgan and Cove, and snapping away with my camera- kind of obsessed with taking pictures.

My kids rarely wear matching socks, and I do my best not to live in my housecoat most days. I'm totally sleep deprived but stay sane by choosing to do what I love, eating clean food (besides copious amount of dark chocolate) and giving and receiving plenty of snuggles. Life is your own creation- I choose to fill it up with beautiful dreams, good friends and an endless perseverance to stay and be healthy- mind, body and heart.

•What inspired you to create Pura?

When I became pregnant with my daughter, I was suddenly ultra-sensitive to anything synthetic. Department store perfumes suddenly seemed toxic and made me feel sick. I began to refuse to put anything on my skin that wasn't all-natural. The harmful petro-chemicals, sulphates, parabens and other harmful synthetics used in the majority of beauty products were just no longer an option.
Pura came to me over many very pregnant sleepless nights. I have poured only love, wisdom and quality ingredients into each and every tincture. I've spent years researching essential oils and botanicals- studying their properties and benefits, and of course developing a fine-tuned nose and intuition for mixing them.
I have two young babies now, and I just can’t imagine exposing their precious little systems to toxic beauty products. Simply- no thank you.

•How did you come up with the name 'Pura' for your line?

I wanted a name that was memorable, easy to say, spell and most importantly, stood for purity. Pura means 'pure' in sanskrit, so it was of course the natural choice. It just sounded and felt right. I love it, and its become a part of me.

•What are your three favorite Pura products?

That's a hard one, hmmmm...Well, I can't live without Pura's Daily Moisturizer, Sweet Face, made with chamomile, vanilla and clementine. My face absolutely craves it in the morning, besides kissing Morgan and Cove, its become a beloved morning ritual- it smells heavenly and makes my skin feel and look amazing.

Thanks so much, Lane.
Happy giveaway, everyone!

This Moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Right Now...

Right now I'm...

Organizing my craft room. Something I've been meaning to do for quite some time.
• Dreaming up new creations to sell in the shop and at the new 124 Street Grand Market later this month! (more info to come)
Slicing up an orange for Linus because we're all out of Granny Smith apples...
Listening to the rain. So very calming.
• Wondering what type of blossoming tree we should plant in our back yard.
• Sipping a cup of green tea while Linus finishes his "green juiced".
Urging all of you to see 'Bully' if you haven't already.
• Planning many special birthday parties.
Smiling at what Linus has picked out to bring for show and tell this morning- A little cloth bag filled with 2 cars, a puzzle piece, a bouncy ball, and a baby bell cheese...
• Feeling so incredibly lucky to have such a sweet little boy. My heart aches with love for him.
• Looking forward to hosting a game night with a few friends tonight.
• Finishing this book and looking forward to starting this one.
• Wanting to use some of my vintage fabric to make a pretty patchwork picnic blanket during Linus' nap today. Maybe we'll be able to use it this weekend!
Noticing  a rabbit in the garden as he nibbles on my sprouting tulips...
• Hoping my Humulus Lupulus grows wild and free all over the outside of our house.
Loving the art work and projects Linus brings home from preschool. He's pretty proud of his little radish plant.
• Wishing you all a happy May (my favorite month) and a wonderful weekend! May the fourth be with you.
