A little morning project.

Even with all of Linus' awesome new toys currently covering our living room floor, he still manages to find time to play with this little creation at least once a day. We built it together one morning about a week ago while daddy was at work. It took us about 10 minutes to make. Using one of our many cardboard boxes, wrapping paper tubes, scissors, pretty tape, oh and I finally found another super cool use for all the felt balls I have stored away in mason jars. At first I was thinking of using marbles, but these felt balls fit perfectly and I think they're funner. Linus played with it for at least one full hour after  it was finished. I was delighted. Who knew letting multicolored balls roll down tubes could be so captivating. Yep, it's fun stuff. He's played with it every day since. He carries the thing around with him to various rooms and of course he's tried using more than just those felt balls. I've seen him use little cars, little people, trains, grapes, crayons, bouncy balls, and the crust off his toast. The little people and the crust didn't get very far, but at least he tried. I'm looking forward to many more morning projects like this one. Seeing his excitement grow as we gathered up our supplies and put it all together, then his fascination with the finished product. It was absolutely perfect.

We ♡ Ada Ada

The kind ladies behind Ada Ada sent us a few pieces from their latest collection for Linus to wear. I love everything about this outfit. The moon shirt has been a favorite of mine since I first set eyes on their beautiful children's clothing line. The fact that they have allowed the "vast depths of the galaxy and shimmer of it's stars" to be the inspiration behind the collection is truly brilliant. The clothes are incredibly well made, oh so comfy cozy, and great for frolicking around in. I'm sure they will last for years and the classic style and color will likely never go out of style. Doesn't my Linus look cute!? I sure think so.

I will be announcing the winner of our Ada Ada giveaway later tonight! Click here to check it out!

Our Christmas

Hello again! Oh my, we've been busy.Christmas day was fantastic. We woke up early and went to my grandparents house to spend the day with my side of the family. Twas wonderful! Santa was very kind to all of us and seeing Linus' shocked face when he saw the stuffed stockings was my favorite part. He and Jedi had a blast looking through each others goodies and Sadie thought the whole thing was pretty neat, too.  My grandma made a big pancake breakfast with bacon, eggs, cinnamon buns, orange juice... I'm still stuffed. We waited for the rest of the bunch to arrive so we could open gifts before Evan, Linus and I drove to Evan's parents house for Christmas dinner with most of his family. It was really nice to see everyone and dinner was so nummy. Linus enjoyed the day thoroughly. He didn't even stop for a nap! Crazy kook.
Since then, we've been busy with family and friends. Things are just now starting to settle again and I'm hoping to soak in these last few days of 2011. It's been another full and crazy year. I'm ready to reflect and move forward.

Here are just a few shots from our lovely Christmas day.

Morning tea parties.

This boy. I just can't get enough of him. He's such a honey, especially in the morning. He wakes me up by gently touching my face and saying, "good morning mummy. It's time to wake up!". He's been filling my mornings with smiles ever since he was tiny and new. I remember his sweet milky breath, dimpled cheeks, and morning stretches. I kiss his rosy warm cheeks, roll out of bed and follow him out to the kitchen. Of course, lately the first thing he asks for has been his "chocate coin"(advent chocolate). I'm not sure why he calls them chocolate coins. They are all shaped either like Santa, a gift or a snowman... I don't think he's ever even had a chocolate coin... He probably learned about them from Jedi. I bet that between jumping on the couch, playing trains and working on puzzles, they probably sit around talking all about the various shaped chocolates that they've tried.
This morning after breakfast, Linus decided to gather up as many of his stuffed buddies as he could find and line them all up on the couch for a "tea party". This is exciting news because I've been playing tea party with him everyday at least 5x/day.  It's cute and fun the first few times, but I turn into a pretty rude guest as the day goes on. I start cleaning things around me, making dinner, reading, and e-mailing. But, now that Linus' social network has grown, he can focus on his other guests when his ever so impolite, party pooper of a mother decides to leave early.

Winter Solstice

Only four more days until Christmas and we're getting very excited. Evan and I have been keeping cozy by the fire, sipping rum and eggnog, reading Christmas stories to Linus and watching movies. I'm savoring this time and noticing how these moments and the 1:00pm sun light that shines through our kitchen is all I need to rid my mind of melancholic feelings. We're looking forward to many lovely gatherings with friends and family, delicious dinners, paper crowns, cozy socks, carols, sugar plum wishes and peppermint dreams all beginning on Friday.
Happy Solstice!

Oh, and don't forget to enter the Ada Ada giveaway here. I'll be choosing a winner on the December 30th!

I may be away from my computer for the next little while. It's been a stressful week and my mind won't turn off. It's time for me to cozy up with my guys and hope for peaceful days ahead.
